Gary Haberfield

Sales Director, Andover Sound

After 16 years in commercial radio Gary has done just about every job that needs doing in your average local station. “I started off in the Sales Department but once I began running stations, I felt that it was important that I knew what all the roles entailed; I’ve done Marketing, Presenting, Programme Management, News-reading and all the Administration jobs you can think of”.

“I can honestly say I love everything about being involved in local radio. Delivering programmes that have a positive effect on local life and helping local businesses to grow and expand, it’s genuinely rewarding as well as being lots of fun.”

Gary started his advertising career more than 20 years ago in local newspapers and his experience in marketing and planning effective campaigns will be put to good use as he looks to develop long-term partnerships with local businesses.

“I’ve spent a number of years at radio stations all around Andover and now I’m really looking forward to bringing the town its own voice”

Born in Singapore (his father was in the Navy), Gary grew up in Oxfordshire before moving South in the 80s. A qualified scuba-diver “although I only dive when the water’s warm” Gary is also is a bit of a bookworm, with John Grisham and Lee Child amongst his favourite authors, he also likes a bit of Science Fact. “I recently read ‘The Universe A Biography’ by John Gribbin and it’s amazing to think how science is seriously looking at our Universe being just one of an infinite number of Multi-verses… just think, all those different versions of ‘Andover Sound’!”.
