Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.
This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

1  News Bulletins

Weekdays - 106.4 Andover Sound broadcasts news bulletins on the hour and half hour between 6am to 9am and hourly across the day from 9am to 4pm and half hourly from 4pm to 7.00pm.  These bulletins contain National and world stories followed by local news.  From 7pm through to 6am a service of national and international news is broadcast, along with a pre-recorded summary of the main local stories of the day.

Weekends - On Saturdays and Sundays, bulletins containing local, national and world news are broadcast between 7am and 1pm with headlines broadcast at 7.30am and 8.30am. These bulletins contain National and world stories followed by local news.  From 2pm through to 6am a service of national and international news is broadcast, along with a pre-recorded summary of the main local stories of the day.

News Review - A review of some of the weeks main local stories is broadcast on a Sunday morning and repeated on a Sunday evening.

5  Automated Programming

The average amount of automated programming on weekday daytime is usually no greater than 3 hours. Programmes broadcast from 7pm until 6am are also usually automated.  Programmes broadcast on Saturdays are live until 18.00 and 15.00 on Sundays.

6  Local Programming

All programming on Andover Sound is produced locally apart from The Soul Train which is shared with other stations.

7 Ofcom Localness Guidelines

Ofcom, the government regulator with responsibilities for local radio, has produced localness guidelines that this station adheres to. These guidelines can be read here. In addition all local radio stations have written 'formats' that they must follow at all times, see www.ofcom.org.uk for Andover Sound's Format.

8  Any other issues or areas of interest likely to impact on localness

There are no current issues that impact on the localness of the station.

9  Events & Charities - Support & Coverage

Andover Sound broadcasts an hourly 'what's on' listing service during daytime hours.  Through the provision of this service the station supports many community groups and charities across North West Hampshire.  We also give regular coverage to charities via our local news bulletins.
