There was a great start to the season for Andover Athletic Club.

The team won their men's Southern League first round match at the Charlton track.

They were competing against sides from Basingstoke, Southampton, Bath and Salisbury.

Coach James Coney picked out some of the highlights: "It's very difficult to pick anyone out on the track, we really dominated on the track.

"But in the field, there's one person that stands out, Roland Barter, only a young lad, come up and thrown a javelin heavier than his normal weight, and he actually won the B string. And also Jordan Twigg, first year in the Southern Men's League, he got a PB in the long jump and I think he won the triple jump as well."
