Faye's lived in Andover all of her life, attending Portway and Harrow Way Schools, before moving on to Cricklade College (as it was known!) and university down in Southampton, learning how to be a journalist.
For three years she worked in Salisbury at Spire FM, helping them towards two of the prestigious Nations and Regions Awards for the South - most recently reading the news bulletins for the breakfast show and generally looking after the news team.
There have been some perks to the job, including presenting shows live from a Jamaican holiday resort, going to the Brit Awards ceremony and dressing up as the mascot for Salisbury City Football Club.
When she's not taking to the airwaves, Faye likes to think of herself as a bit of a movie buff, watches far too much television and should spend more time in the gym!
Faye Marsh's Q&A
What's the best thing about working for Andover Sound? Only having a 5 minute drive to work, getting to report on stories that affect me as well as the rest of North West Hampshire and working with a team of people that are so passionate about creating great radio and succeeding in it as well!
What's been your most embarrassing moment on air? There are two! The first was when I was told about having to be the Salisbury City mascot, being given the panda head in a box and then trying really hard not to swear at/cry at the drivetime presenter for the humiliation! The other was after going to a soldier homecoming ceremony in Larkhill. I met one particular soldier who was very nice and who asked for my phone number. I got scared and pretty much ran away! I then made the mistake of telling the presenters...they then put out an on-air appeal, complete with 'Our Tune' music, to find him and set up a date - it didn't work!
Who's your favourite music artist? Muse. They're technically brilliant, write beautiful songs and put on amazing stage shows. I also like Lily Allen because she's cooler than a penguin in the winter. And, as tragic as it might sound, Steps! They're fun and there are also dance moves to be learned so it's a form of exercise!
Who would be your fantasy interview? This is tough because there are so many! I think I'll go for Hillary Clinton because I'd like to know what it's like in the White House and I think she'll eventually go down in history as one of the best female politicians ever.
What do you like most about North West Hampshire? The fact that everyone seems to know everyone! It brings a strong sense of community. It's also easy to get to a lot of other places from here if want something to do and, by only going a few miles out of town, you get to lovely countryside! |
