Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (U)

So Scrat, Manny , Sid and Diego are back, only there's a bit less ice around this time following the last Ice Age movie, The Meltdown.

Now firmly an item with Ellie, Manny is a father to be and is fretting about his impending parenthood and making everything perfect for when the baby arrives. Scrat is still trying to keep hold of that acorn but finding it more difficult as he starts to fall for female sabre-tooth squirrel Scratte who also has designs on his nut.Diego is feeling a bit ignored and taken for granted so decides he needs to be a bit less laid back and a bit more pro-active. Meanwhile Sid decides he wants to be a Dad too, like Manny, so steals some dinosaur eggs which leads to him ending up in a strange underground world. So his friends have to go and rescue him, avoiding becoming dinosaur breakfast and meeting a one-eyed weasel called Buck.

To be honest, there's not much to be said about this movie. For kids and fans of the previous films it's exactly what you'd expect. All our favourite characters are there plus a few more, the animation is as good as always and it's safe, charming entertainment for the little 'uns. There's not as much for the adults as there is in animations such as Toy Story or Monsters Versus Aliens but it's the perfect summer holiday movie for youngsters.
