Local Music / Matty Twigg
Matty Twigg

Shirley Swain has once again been out and about on the search for more of North West Hampshire's hidden talent.

This time round, Shirley reckons she's found the shyest singer songwriter from the area to date.

Matty is from Andover where he has spent most of his life in education and work to fund his main interests, music and travelling.

To date Matty has travelled by bicycle across England, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, India, Nepal and Thailand.

He picked up a guitar and a Simon and Garfunkel chord book when he was 7 and has been playing ever since. Matty has also taken to playing piano, harmonica, banjo, sitar and violin.

Shirley spoke to Matty and his sister Sophie about how he copes with being in front of an audience and the venues they've played so far.

"I see about 2-3 artists a week in and around hants and caught this guy in support of an act I went to see at the lights. His music and song craft has depth and feeling, while technique is also a cut above the usual strum-along-charlies that seem to, oh so frequently, fill acoustic events. I hope all goes well and your town support your talent. Someone let me know if he comes to Winchester, is there a website? "
