Pitch problems are continuing to cause a headache for bosses at Andover Football Club.
The playing surface at the Portway Stadium still isn't up to standards meaning they'll have to wait even longer for their first home game of the season - depriving them of much needed revenue.
The cause of the problem seems amusing on the surface but rabbits digging up Andover's pitch are becoming a very serious matter for the club. The first home match at the Portway should have been over two weeks ago. Since an inspection was failed before that game, groundsmen have been working to repair the divots and lay down some new turf.
Despite this, inspectors from the Southern League this week still weren't happy with it meaning Saturday's game against North Leigh has been postponed.
There has also been talk that an upcoming home FA Cup game could instead be played at Whitchurch United. But with the club already struggling for money this year the aim is to get football played at the Portway again soon. |
