We're close to finding out just how much council tax we'll be paying in the next year - and it's not looking good for our pockets.
All the local authorities are expected to increase their charge with County, Borough and Parish councils as well as the police and fire authorities in Hampshire setting their budgets.
But the leader of one of those authorities says we shouldn't be worried about their rise.
Test Valley Borough Council are set for a 2.5% increase but Councillor Ian Carr says it's all relative: "It's not very much really, because we only charge £120 a year for the services we deliver, so that's going to go up 2.5%, that's nothing.
"1.9% on a multi-million pound budget, that's a lot more money, so it depends on the scale."
1.9% is the amount Hampshire County Council has already announced that's the amount their costs will rise by in the next financial year. |
