"To Andover Sound: I don't know who to contact regarding this Please can you help. I was kindly ivited to a sing-a-long at Cherry Tree Old People Home on Friday. What a delightful bunch of old folk and what a fabulous lot of caring wonderful carers who look after them How How the Council are talking about closing this home totally bewilders me. The running costs??? Get in a good local builder to give the Council a quote for work. Not people from the Council. Also could you tell me how to get sponsers for Mrs Mary Burch who has a wonderful dad of 97 years old in the home who fought for us in the Second World War. To me we have the likes of Harry to thank for being here. Mary Burch has organised an official group to take on the Council but she needs to badly raise money to pay for a specialized Lawyer. She is having a day at her home to raise the money but she needs donations such as unwanted gifts and money. Is there anyway you can put out on the radio that she desperately need donations from local people and companies in the area to help her. Andover FM have Marys telephone number and her address and you would know the proper channels to get donations to her. Please Please help. These wonderful old folk are getting so upset about this. There is one lovely man Barry who has been in care all his life because of cerebal palsy and he gets so upset as he has only been in Cherry Orchard and he says it is the first place he can actually call his home. The Carers care! Does the lady on the Council care this could be her Mum and dad in the future we have a lot of Modern care homes in Andover and I have visited friends in them. The only place that comes anyway near the comradeship in Cherry Orchard unfortunately is the Hospice in Andover. Second to none. Once again after beeing at the sing-a-long and buffet these wonderful old folk were giving this home has to be saved. Thank you Mrs Pauline Murphy" |

"And to think they couldnt make things worse at the roadworks @tesco roundabout. Well theycould, they blocked off the riverway turning and left the lights on 4 way control so traffic backed up half way round Andover, my 2 minute journey took 25 mins. WHEN OH WHEN is someone going to take these idiots to task, where are all the councillors that promised to keep an eye on this, nowhere to be seen or are they all stuck in the continual traffic jams" |

"My rant today is regarding the new housing development on Picket Twenty!
What a dam mess they have made!
All them new houses and expensive paved roads throughout the new estate!
Not a problem I hear you say but look more closer and you will see the wonderful Highway Agency people have blocked the access up to the very top of Picket Twenty lane (near the postbox) so all the business traffic WILL NOW have to go down through the new houses,I bet the house developers havent told the new owners of the brand new houses there!
I bet while they were using there selling patter to them, they negleted to tell them that every minute of the day large HGVs and vans will be rumbling past there houses!
Some with livestock going to the chicken farm down Forest lane, and lots of HGVs going to the main business places also on Forest Lane!
There windows will be dusty, there washing will be dirty and the lovely paved roads will soon be destroyed let alone the grass verges that are the new residents gardens as some trucks WILL have to drive on to actually get down through the new estate as this is now the new and only entry and exit to the Forest lane Business's!
And to the new owners of said properties its the Higways Agency you have to thank for that! Inconvience for all involved!! " |

"SOUTHERN BOY:
I totally agree with you,we were there yesterday going to Pets at Home.
The road is totally messed up cars going in all directions from all directions, not the fault of many car owners as they are driving blind!
And it does not help the matter when you get ignorant drivers like we saw yesterday who DO NOT use there indicators and just swerve into a lane and expect to be let in as they force there cars in front of others!
It is a nightmare I would guess for people walking across there and parents with prams and toddlers too!
Also it cannot be a joy for people who live near there either this is going on far too long!
It needs as you say Southern boy to be sorted!!" |

"I would like Andover Sound to put the shambolic roadworks at the Tesco roundabout as their next talking point and when i say shambolic its the understatement of the century, what on earth were they thinking, and what on earth are they doing, it is just a mess, and so totally unorganised. I think Cllr Ian Carr needs to be taking someone to task over this complete and utter C*** up. firstly why were the new entrances and exits to tesco's not done first or is this the councils way of punishing tesco's for appealling the extension to the store and winning ?? why are they digging bits up, blocking bits off and then not working on them for weeks ?? who is to blame ?? what are they going to do about it for us long suffering residents that have to use it everyday ?? Someone , somewhere needs to be kicking A**e." |

Why are these people not traced and fined,Im sure prints could be taken by the local constabulary and the people found, named and shamed???
Its scum like this that ruin our countryside and towns!

There were supposedly 8 acts going through to the finals from the last audition, yet only 7 have gone through...is this fair on the hopefulls??? I think the organisers should have stuck to their word and put through 8 acts as this is simply not fair on everyone who took the time and effort to enter and audition...any thoughts please?" |

"**** OF ANDOVER:
You make a point of people coming on the rant page as 'Moaning minnies',so with your recent comment, what exactly does this make you?
You put in your comment and I quote:
"Whoever at Andover Sound Radio, saw fit to make a page for moaning minnies must have got their inspiration from all the moaning minnies here in Andover,That there is indeed a need for a page for people to moan on.. Sad very sad.. Indicative of the people, that bothers to go on here. Instead of approaching the relevant authorities, that could indeed sort their queries out!)
Well you have just shot yourself right in the foot with that one,I suggest you take your own advice as stated above and go straight to ANDOVER SOUND with your queries about there rant page instead of making hypocritical comments!
The pages here are for people to voice there problems with anything to do with Andover or whatever they wish to rant about, after all thats why it is called a RANT page,if you dont like seeing other peoples comments as it so clearly seems to upset you so much, then I suggest you dont come on it!

It’s the same people all the time, moaning and finding things to moan about, or to exaggerate on, or to see the bad side of things, or the negativity in everything …
No wonder this page has so many people going on it… it is reflective of all that is sad about Andover….
That there is indeed a need for page for people to moan on..

"Well I never! - As you have shown..their are jobs out there for skilled people...so you have highlighted my point exactly. It may not be in Andover...but maybe as you hate the town you live in so much..you might think of moving closer to where he works...Just a thought, save yourself a bob or two in petrol. And yes your probably right, He probably was overqualified for the Co-Op. Why would they want to train and waste their money on someone who more than likely will pop off at a better job oppertunity in his own trade at a later date?????? They are a business after all...and unfortunatly its all about profit margins and budgets...they are not a drop in centre for the unemployed!!! But these people on here will say...no...he didn't get a interview..because he is ginger/overwieght/bisexual or has green skin with pink spots!!! never heard so much clap trap in all my life. A person who picks and packs is not a skilled worker..regardless of what they may think of themselves or length of employment in that role...and perhaps they want to think about what makes them stand out against the other 10000 people with the exact history they have?? perhaps they need to go get some health and safety training, computer skills or forklift skills to add to thier C.V..some people baffle me that they think they are so great and how on earth can they are never employed when they have the exact same skills as the thousands of other joe blogs out there who are all in the same position.
People moan about Andover and not attracting the right type of businesses to the town. THIS WEBSITE ITSELF is a fantastic marketing tool for Andover and look at how you all treat it?? Who in their right mind after reading all this misery and sometimes down right pettiness and want to move or open a business here?? your daft!! The only thing this town suffers from is small people small lives syndrome and a severe lack of ambition. If you don't like what you have and the grass is greener in another town...then move. "Well "stop complaining", I'm kicking myself here. When my husband, who I I hasten to add is a skilled man, was looking for work I should have contacted you! You obviously have details of all the skilled jobs round here! In between doing anything her could lay his hands on, we spent the night trawling the internet, and sending out literally hundreds of letters. He has now finally found permanent employment back in his trade but is travelling a 100 mile trip 3 times a week for far less money. Oh and by the way, he also applied to the Co-Operative and wasn't even given an interview. Over qualified perhaps?" |

"Another thing.....All this talk about "foreigners" taking jobs away from the English. POPPYCOCK! They are hard working individuals that are happy to work...unlike you uneducated waste of spaces that can not be bothered to get out of bed and earn a hard honest days wages because it doesn't meet your standards. Perhaps its your bigoted attitude like that which means you end up jobless. I certainly wouldn't want to work with you with that attitude and I am English!!! You know most of the foreign population work in unskilled labour jobs. They are happy to wipe granny's butt for you or make countless electrical mind numbing components to make your laptop or your mobile cheaper...you don't complain then! If you have a issue, you need to have the National Minimum Wage increased and in that case, speak or write to your MP. Companies stick to the government guidlines, so if you not happy working for £5.80ph but someone else is..who's fault is it really? not theirs!! you need to focus on what your anger is actually at rather than pointing fingers and blaming foriegners rather than the goverment. Or better yet...Get some skills! There is plenty of work out there for skilled workers..so go and get help and sort yourself out if you have none. The job centre offer computer courses, forklift training..all sorts!! so go get some. Our college in Andover now is Excellent since being taken over by Sparsholt. Go check out the courses. You would be better actually learning something valuable than sitting on your sofa being a bigoted armchair critic. Oyy!" |

"I wish people would shut up about "the co-op this and that" Other than the case with Mark previously, they have recruited masses of "decent" people. People who are rejected will always complain and try and make out there was an alternative as to why they didn't get employed. Yes it must be a big bad wolf supervisor that made the choice against me because my hair is ginger or someting pathetic like that!! People always think they did well in an interview when in fact they come accross as arrogant...or they have job hopped 1 year here and 2 years there and think that is acceptable. Some people really are a joke and want to take a long hard look at themselves and re-evaluate. Then perhaps they stand a better chance in the future. Seriously. I have never read such a bunch of whiney dross in all my life!...people...Your cup is half full, not empty and perhaps this town would be a better place all round if people took pride in what they do have rather than wallow in the sty of what they don't. I was pretty stunned as the interview went great. BUT, as it transpires...my friend who works in HR there said he had discovered (to his amazement) that I wasn't given the job purely because of my sexuality and that the person hiring made a decision based on this alone!

What makes the people who run the Chantry centre think they can achieve this?
There are empty shops in the Chantry Centre that can be made into business's that can work!
I have lost count how many units are standing empty!
Why waste money on more shops in a buidling that is rarely full of people unless your buying a new mobile phone or a greetings card!!
The money could be used to fund more exciting projects that COULD bring more people into Andover, and take more children off the streets!
I know that the new levels and shops would bring more employment to this needy town but how long would the jobs exsist for until the shops themselfs have to close because of nobody shopping in them!

While sat in Winchester Catherdral gardens on Monday,a woman with two children aged about 5 and 2 was allowing them to climb and play on the war memorial there, nothing was said from there mother she even joined in the game!
Is it any wonder why some children grow up to be dis-respectful and run riot?
Respect and teaching begins in the home.
After all if those children had fallen off the memorial base which is quite high for children of that age,if they had fallen and been seriously injured who would get the blame I'm damn sure it wouldnt be the mother!
Im sure blame would be as usual in these cases put on someone else!" |

Some children think they can behave however they like and just seem to get away with it! Teaching and support staff are very vulnerable and open to all kinds of abuse, not just from some unruly children but from their even more unruly parents...and we wonder where some children get their bad behaviour from?! Trust me, sometimes we really don't need to look too far!! We would get nowhere without an education, so come on some of you, be grateful and support your school staff." |

I even went into Tesco in November last year to hand in an application so I do know they got it,and I went in again in Feb this year to see what was happening still no contact from them!
It is clear they were far to busy to even acknowledge my application letters and CVs sent to them! Also alot of jobs go quickly as people who work for these companies get to know about the jobs before anyone else there-fore giving members of there family and close friends first choice! Ive worked in supermarkets I know how they work! Its just a disgrace that when people go to the trouble and money to send by post application letters and CVs and they dont reply!" |

"Freedom of speech isnt the point here as i full agree with you about that. Its the way that the Camapign has been conducted throughout all this and the particular letter only serves to convey their complete lack of respect for the Cenotaph and families of the names on there. With the vagueness and doubt conveyed by the content of the piece they still only create doubt and suspicion on this subject. As i have already stated saying they are speaking on behalf of the fallen is arrogance personified and something that people with real intention would not have the nerve to do.On the subject of freedom of speech, the campaign brought a twist to that at the Cenotaph debate by openly being annoyed with anyone who disagrred with them so much so that opponents felt pressured by their actions and body language so it would be interesting to hear their take on freedom of speech as they were not practising it on the night. There are two sides to every story and at no point have i ever thought the campaigners would agree with me,but i do find it fascinating that they dont sse that people could actually disagree with them, iwonder why?" |

Their continued actions over a matter that should have ended months ago shows continual disrespect for the Cenotaph and they should be ashamed of themselves. " |

""An Andover shopper has been punched in the face over an argument about the football team he supports.
The clash happened in the Chantry Centre.
The 56 year old Victim was sat on a bench in the shopping centre when another man, aged in his late teens or early 20s, approached him and said something about the club badge on his wolly hat.
They exchanged words before the youngster allegedly hit the man in the face causing his tooth to puncture his lip.The man was with a woman pushing a buggy at the time and police have said it seems to have been an unprovoked attack".
THIS IS EXACTLY HOW MANY YOUNG PEOPLE ACT THESE DAYS,THE PERSON (I WONT SAY A MAN BECAUSE HE IS A COWARD)SET UPON A MAN WHO WAS JUST SAT MINDING HIS OWN BUSINESS,WHEN THIS THUG CAME UPTO HIM AND ASSAULTED HIM BECAUSE OF A FOOTBALL TEAM BADGE UPON HIS HAT! Drinking alcohol and smoking when they're obviously under age, swearing, shouting, playing loud head banging 'music', throwing rubbish around and goodness knows what else. Amongst others, Mothers with young children and elderly people use the underpass and it's disgraceful that they should have to put up with this behaviour. The Mayor says "It's a scheme that our Prime Minister would be proud of as he wants volunteers across the country to take on more responsibility".
I would like to point out that he is not my prime minister, he does not represent me and I am horrified by the irreparable damage this idiot prime minister is doing to OUR country.
If the mayor thinks, like Cameron that dismantling the fabric of the UK's social structure and replacing it with an ad-hock volunteer infrastructure that will ultimately fail is a good idea, then I think Andover needs a new mayor and quickly." |

Nick, I understand your anger and frustration; however I do feel honour bound to point out that Police Community Support Officers fill an invaluable role within the communities in which they operate…
They are not meant to be the police they are there to support and strengthen the role of the police…
They are vigorously vetted, and also need to complete health and fitness tests… They wear their uniform with pride, as they have earned the right to do so… They support the police, much like the desk staff back at the stations do… And we couldn’t do without their help either… In fact every single one of us, can do more to help the police, we can all be part of a huge net work of a neighbourhood watch scheme… Nick, Let’s not ask what the governing bodies can do for us…but ask yourselves what can you do Nick? to support them, who ever are in power... In my humble opinion, that is the way forward to help combat crime, and regain control of where we all live.

On the subject of the debate though, the town councils details are on the back of the campaigns flyers so how can their be a debate? people of Andover sort this nonsense out by ignoring the debate and just letting the Cenotaph stay in peace in its one and only home. "You have to laugh at the fact that one minute we are reading about how Andover is growing and this great, new houses etc etc. Yet the next we are reading that hampshire county council has to make up a £30 million shortfall in its budget with cuts to bus services and staff reductions.
So as Andover grows, the service reduce, the hospital is being messed with again but we should all rejoice as despite all this and all the companies leaving the industrial estates good old tesco and its 5 stores and newly increased river way store will save andover and all those who live there.
So when people at the council and public servants like me lose our jobs in the coming year, will Tesco be able to take us all on.And before anyone says anything....NO we can't ALL go and work at the co-op distribution centre.
Sir George Young is so pleased with Andover growing and said there are real opportunities for it to develop as more people come to live here: "I hope it'll also attract more employers to the town. The fact that there are more people living in Andover means that there are more people potentially available for work" and those already looking for work is he going to ensure that other companies come here and the infrastructure improves and the chantry centre develops in to something worth visiting. Scum that do these things should have there hands cut off in public and I will sign any petition that is set up for such things!!
This elderly lady not only had the sadness of visiting the grave of her Grandson but nobody can imagine unless it has happened to you the distress and upset of finding her car broke in and her purse stolen!
It makes me sick that the theiving scumbag that did this if caught will get no punishment, and we all know this will happen!
It's the government that needs a huge shake up with the justice system!
This is why these types (I wont say people as they do not deserve to be called anything decent) go theiving off decent hard working folk as they know they will get no more than a slapped wrist for there troubles!

It happened when she left it in her car at the Charlton Park cemetery. The woman was only gone for a short time but it was enough for someone to smash a window of her Nissan Micra and grab the purse from a shopping bag.
so even sacred places are not sacred anymore??????
I normally am not lost words...but this#@*7^%$~ this crime has literally floored me.....
I personally think all good and kind natured people should do all that they can to get money to this old lady so that she, and her family don't think that all Andoverians are as bad as the person that has done this to her.♥" |

This path is used everyday by kids walking to school or walking to the park/shops at weekends, and all we seem to do along this path is dodge Dog Poo. I am fed up as I seem to clean my buggy everyday from this mess, if you dont want to clean it up then DONT have a dog. This is getting to be a big problem as more and more dog owners think that it is OK to leave this mess for the kids/adults to step in, I bet they would not like poo on their walk ways! " |

"I notice that millionaire local MP George Young is yet again defending his governments insane increases, this time the education fee's. I am also alarmed that the government have very quietly changed the Animal Welfare Bill. This will mean that millions of hens will have their beaks mutilated; game birds will remain in cages; pigs, sheep and cows in abattoirs will lose crucial protection from abuse; badgers will be culled and lions, tigers and other wild animals will continue to perform in the big top.
In a series of little-noticed moves, the Coalition has s[censored]ped or stalled Labour initiatives to improve animal welfare some weeks before they were due to come into force.
The Agriculture minister James Paice, who part-owns a farm in Cambridgeshire,(what a coincidence) has been behind most of the moves. In the latest of a series of controversial decisions, Mr Paice this week delayed by five years a ban on beak mutilations of laying hens due to come into force in January.
I assume George Young would find a way to justify this as well.
This country is going to be so damaged by these people that I fear we will never regain a nation to be proud of.
The recent anger displayed by students towards the Tory Party is I fear just the beginning of a period of protest and civil unrest not seen in this country since the last Tory administration implemented a series of ill conceived and socially divisive laws that nearly wrecked the UK and led to a Labour Government.
Its strange that the only time we see real anger and frightening levels of violence on the streets on Britain (apart from G summit meetings) is when when we have a Tory leadership." |

"Manuela, firstly George Young is not my MP, he never will be, secondly the rise in rail fares is a you rightly say is an above inflation hike, instigated by the government, it is like everything this (with luck short lived coalition) have thrown at the us, ill-conceived right wing Thatcherite deconstruction of the social fabric of this country.
Most of the social ill's we as a society endure on a daily basis are directly traceable to the insanity of Tory policy from the 1970's & 80's. However long the current administration are in office and I suspect it will not be for long, the damage they will inflict on this country will be felt for generations to come.
For the financially independent the Tories are your friend but for the majority of ordinary people they are a menace and display a pathological dislike for ordinary hard working people.
As for anyone that agrees with you or the current austerity measures you are seriously deluded.
Regarding my inability to navigate this website I am obviously not very internet literate perhaps I could attend a silver surfers internet training course, silly me they are like every other amenity being closed down because of the spending review." |

"Good Evening Leon,
Thank you for your kind and courteous reply; you are mistaken in ‘noting’ that the article has been removed. All you need to do dear, is to click onto the calendar to access any previous talking points.
North West Hampshire's MP believes we won't be tempted away from the railways in years to come, despite soaring fares from next year.
We'll have to pay on average 5.8% more to travel by train from January, with prices rising by more than the rate of inflation in the following three years.
But Sir George Young thinks the increases are needed to keep up investment in the transport system and that passenger numbers won't suffer as a result.
Our MP says he expects the train will still take the strain for years to come: "Petrol prices have not been static over the past year or so. They're higher than they were so it's not just the rail fares that have been going up so I think you have to look at it in the round.
"For many people, the ease of going to London by train will out-weigh any possible savings in going by car because then once you get to the other end you've got the congestion charge or you may have to pay a parking fee. I still think you can make a case that this is a sensible part of an integrated transport policy."" |

"Manuela, tell me what exactly what I have "miss-read".
The fact that a man with a personal wealth of over a million pounds can justify yet more increases in rail fares. It was because of short sighted Tory policy that this privatised nation of ours is in such a mess, and yet an ex Etonian millionaire, with little or no concept of real life is trying to justify a hike in rail fares at a time when 25% of UK households are unable to pay utility bill. I suggest Manuela you wake up and try to understand what the Tories are doing to the country.
I note with interest the George Young artical is no longer on the A.S site." |

We have all seen this going on and there have been many complaints form retailers, residents and the general public. Well thats a ridiculous business model. We have someone new inc harge of the Town Centre and it seems like we are basically going to get more of the same. We have shops closing here and there, and them being replaced by things like Bright House. Can anyone get a shop in Andover because it seems to me as long as you can afford the ridiculous rent then your pretty much a given.
There are only so many empty units you turn in to christmas shops you know. When are things going to turn around in the town centre, i managed to not go to the town centre for nearly 4 weeks. There is nothing there and when xmas comes we all know that most of Andover will be chipping over to Basingstoke, Salisbury and Southampton for the range of choice instead off Poundland, Wilkinson and Peacocks.

Human waste Not silage or the "usual stuff" spread on the fields. It would not have been by accident and the land owner knew it was sewage ... I for one would like to know who it was, why and the implications .. Human sewage does not re juvinate the soil, its a cheap way of clearing or ridding waste material where the land owner is usualy paid to use it.. Would you want produce from their farm ? So thats it ,, I can not believe there was nothinh on the local news It rearly does need investigating .. The whole of Andover was efected and no one has been brough to blame ? Oh ... I just had a read through the comments and noticed one about '20 is plenty' that sign is not actually a legal speed limit sign like the 30, 40 ect. it is purely advisory.
Thanks for making me smile :D" |

"Re:Hospital worker..
This country has gone to the dogs, all councils want is money, money and money from people who just want to do an honest days work! To tell you that you cannot ride on the free bus to work is pathetic, you work at the hospital so why cant u travel on the bus? To say its only for patients travelling to and from the hospital is daft,I bet some of them sat on that FREE bus can afford the proper bus fares from Andover that many of others cannot! " |

"I work part-time in Winchester hospital as an assistant so I am not paid a great deal. On phoning up to ask whether I could used the hospital bus service to get to and from work, because the Stage Coach fare is too expensive, I was told both by the driver (rudely) and the management that the bus was only for patients and it was too full to allow me to travel. I now find out that the bus was far from too full and I could have ridden on it. I would happily have paid a bit more. I'm sure I'm not the only member of staff to travel from Andover. If it happened that the bus was fully booked, then they could let any regular staff know and they could use the public transport on those days. Can this not still be run for both patients and staff? "Why do some parents always blame other people smoking for there child coughing and spluttering.
Yesterday we took a walk to Charlton Lakes, Myself my husband and our kids and family!
There was a couple with a boy age of around 4 he was drinking a fizzy drink and he drank it too quick as he began to cough and splutter, I was 5 feet from him so saw this happen.
My husband who was smoking was around 50 metres behind us so as not to get the smoke in other peoples space.
Then the mother of the lad said out loud "Did that cigarette smoke get in your face"?
I felt like saying to her,No your child is coughing and spluttering as he was drinking his fizzy pop too quick,But I didnt want to cause a scene in front of my children.
Try and get your facts right before you blame smokers.
If you were watching your child drink his pop instead of being 10 mtrs in front of him you would have seen this fact!" |

"So they are axing the free bus from Andover to Winchester?
Thats one more arrow in the hearts of tax payers,This service is a life line for them that need hospital appointments and visits to loved ones,I am from Manchester but now live here in Andover Ive been here a year and I can tell you in Manchester, you have hospital buses every hour on the hour,Parking in our Asda carparks are free,I think if every adult stopped paying council tax they would soon be up in arms, isnt it odd when the council owes you money they fight tooth and nail not to pay you back for many months, but when you owe them theres threatening letters through your door 2 weeks after u owe them! The Government Stinks!
And all the extra to line the pockets of the fat cat government workers for there christmas meals out and holidays abroad oh and there new laptop computers they are all getting soon! Great Britain we are no longer!" |

"It amazes me that every year we get the same things said about Andover and nothing ever changes. The biggest talking point, the litter... if only there was as much effort put in to finding things to bring to Andover for people to do.
I know that i will get the usual response, we have a cinema, we have a the lights... oh well that completes the list then. This town is summed by the fact that the old MVC shop was suppose to be becoming part of the all singing new old ford cottage site and what do we get instead a pay weekly shop.
People need to accept the fact that nothing will change, Andover is scared of change and what we have is what we have. Your in a town that has eruptions other an italian restaurant in the guildhall and that getting a new drive through is worth bowing before the council for.
The truth is you wanna shop for a man go elsewhere, you want things to do with your kids go elsewhere. You want to buy 7000 birthday cards, 240 mobile phones and for your kids to have nothing to do, then your in the right place." |

"Having just been turned down at the swimming centre in andover (because its full), with two upset children , a bad full of swimming clothes etc it got me thinking , we all moan about andover from time to time , but it seems people are right ! This town really is a load of "beep"!
There is hardly anything for parents to do with their children in the holidays.Im not going to rant on through a greta big list , but i did find out these facts today
ANDOVER population 52.000 available public swimming hours monday to friday 18 hours !
ROMSEY population 15.000 available public swimming hours monday to friday 49 hours!
BASINGSTOKE population 82.193 available public swimming hours 45 hours!
TIDWORTH population 9.500 , i wasnt able to get details of the available hours , but even so if you do visit , and sign your children up and under 16's swim for free! I was imformed over the phone though that the opening hours in the holidays are from 9am-9pm and a good proportion of that goes onto public swimming.
This town has a high population and yet its still not catered for in the way it should be , now i dont just mean swimming either ....apart from a LOT of card, phone, tacky, cheap, rubbish shops , we have sod all !" |

Its called being lazy and not having respect for there own town and parks!
And we are not only talking about kids on school holiday here.
Theres plenty of adults that cannot make it 3ft to a litter bin in Andover town square! When they have finished there food, on the ground there rubbish goes...I say catch these people on CCTV publish there photo in the Chantry center, and name and shame them! Problem sorted..
Some kids cannot be blamed for throwing rubbish when they see there parents doing just that!" |

Here's a question for you: How do YOU know that the people on here who are 'ranting' have not gone and done something about the 'rant' that is making them sit behind the computer typing their rant for all of Andover to see. Don't presume dear girl....it seems to me that you are one of the 'ranters' you are so highly qualified to offend, I ask myself why you initially came on to these pages in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!" |

I understand that it "helps" some people to rant, you know, a problem shared is a problem halved, but in my opinion, if something is annoying you so much, you feel the need to rant about it, why don't you actually go and take action, instead of sitting in front of a computer rage typing. If it's not worth doing something about, then don't rant about it." |

A very angry concerned library user of Andover says: |
 |
|
|
07:52 on Thursday 20th May 2010 |

"OH MY GOD!!!!!! HOW IS PEOPLE LOSING JOBS IN LIBRARIES NOT A CUT TO THE SERVICE???
How dare that woman Margaret Snaith-Tempia say that "most people who come into our libraries for whatever purpose, will actually not notice a great deal of difference in the level of service". As a long term library user i would imagine that if there are cuts in staff there will still be the same amount of work to be done but by fewer staff, how are these already hardworking people meant to be able to do their own jobs plus that of their colleagues and maintain a high level of service?
I know that at the moment it says there are no losses at Andover library but surely whichever libraries are included in this sad state of affairs it will have an effect through the system to Andover, thus affecting the public. Ok they may not be affecting the opening hours and not closing libraries but it will have an effect on staff morale and their workload. I realise that cuts need to be made on local services but maybe it should be made from things that people don't actually rely on as an integral part of their life and would be more understandable if we didn't see so much council money wasted on ridiculous things. I just hope that we don't lose any of the wonderful staff from Andover library. Thank you ...rant over" |
