Your local radio station has been named as the best commercial station of its kind in the UK.
Andover Sound picked up the top award for Station of the Year at the Commercial Radio Awards in London on Thursday night during a ceremony at London's Westminster Bridge Park Plaza Hotel.
The judges comments were: "Their philosophy is 'if it matters in North West Hampshire you'll hear it on Andover Sound'.
"They've produced some extremely moving pieces of radio and have been an integral part of countless charitable and community events."
Andover Sound's chairman, Ian Axton, says it's a huge accolade for North West Hampshire: "If you travel up and down the country and tune in your car radio up and down the dial you come across hundreds of commercial radio stations. The commercial station in Andover has been picked out as the best in the country out of the hundreds that are available.
"It's an amazing accolade, it's a tribute to the staff at Andover Sound, to the advertisers that support the radio station and to the thousands of people in North West Hampshire that tune in every week."
Paul Eaton, Director of Radio at Arqiva, said: "Arqiva is hugely proud to be associated with these prestigious awards. They recognise the incredible diversity, talent and dedication that exist within commercial radio, both on and off-air, and the level of expertise among entries get stronger every year. Meanwhile North West Hampshire's MP has said it's great to see Andover businesses making headlines nationally. Sir George Young said: "In the whole of the United Kingdom Andover has the best small commercial radio station. We're really proud that what we all know in Andover, that this is a fantastic radio station, has been recognised by the judges and you've seen off the competition. So fantastic news, well done."
