Some of North West Hampshire's top young athletes took to the track yesterday to challenge the best of the rest in the county.

The Hampshire Schools Track & Field Championships took place in Portsmouth with many pupils from local schools here taking part.

Among them were brother and sister Charlie & Jessica Moore from Test Valley School who won the pole vault and 300m hurdles respectively.

Nicky Chewins is from Winton and told us about the competition: "They all went to Charlton to compete for a place representing Andover in the Hampshire Athletics Association Track and Field and if they do well there, coming first or second, they'll go on to represent Hampshire next week in the inter-county.

"If they do well there, and they get a qualifying time, they'll represent Hampshire at the English Schools."
