Your Road Conditions

Hampshire County Council have said they will focus on gritting the main roads around North West Hampshire.

However this means that a large number will not be treated, leading to very dangerous driving conditions.

Leave a message below to tell us which roads near you are dangerous and we'll let the whole of North West Hampshire know about them.

Jenny of Roman Way says:
14:50  on  Monday 20th December 2010
"The roads and pathways on the estates are still covered in snow and ice,the estate roads have compacted snow on them and now it's snowing again, this is just a recipe for disaster!!! There should be grit bins scattered around every estate, this way we could be sure of gritting at least the main road out of the estate. this should all come in with the Council tax, we pay enough of it so let's now see something for our money!!"

lisa of andover says:
13:38  on  Monday 20th December 2010
"its all very well the gritters clearing the main routes round town but how are we suppose to get there if some of the minor roads are to dangerous to travel on and that includes the pavements to."

Cllr David Drew of Andover says:
00:38  on  Monday 20th December 2010
"For those of you who would like to see the salt/gritting routes then just to to: http://whereilive.hants.gov.uk/wintersaltroutes/ and enter your postcode. All routes around schools are gritted, however with schools now closed for the holiday, the gritters are working arround town centers to help businesses and christmas shoppers. "

Elaine of Andover says:
00:23  on  Monday 20th December 2010
"The roads and footpaths around the Viking Way and Roman Way school area are lethal. It's like a skating rink and an accident waiting to happen. There's a lot of elderly people living up there, something needs to be done before someone gets badly hurt. Isn't that the sort of thing that we pay our council tax for??"

Philip Kane of Floral Way Andover says:
10:09  on  Sunday 19th December 2010
"Does anybody think it is possible to drive safely from Floral Way to the village of St Mary Bourne and the best route to day Sunday 19 Dec about 1 p.m."

sally of england says:
09:16  on  Sunday 19th December 2010
"I LOVE SNOW YES I DO I LOVE SNOW I LOVE YES I DO I LOVE SNOW SO WHY DOOONT YOUUUUU"

Robert Vincent of Wildhern SP11 0JF says:
17:11  on  Saturday 18th December 2010
"Sadly, the snow-covered road through Wildhern and up the hill has not been treated by HCC. Trying to discover why is pointless and frustrating. Their website is wonderful but impenetrable for such a simple query such as when it will be dealt with i.e. gritted. Our resourceful postman was only able to call by driving up to the top of the hill before stopping and occasionally sliding downwards to deliver. I would have expected, given 24/7 info technology nowadays, for HCC to have forseen the need for and created a website detailing the problem on this and other roads including intended action. Trying to find anything like that has been impossible. We, and many others hereabouts, pay some £2,500 a year rates. A few reassuring words from those we employ might ease the anger if not the problem!"

HJ of Hurstbourne says:
10:12  on  Saturday 18th December 2010
"Our local roads have not been gritted. On checking the Hampshire county council website I apparently live on a first priority road for gritting - but they've done nothing... Why not??"

Andy of Andover says:
09:43  on  Saturday 18th December 2010
"It's a bit white"

KAZ of CRICITERS WAY says:
11:56  on  Saturday 4th December 2010
"HEY I REALLY ENJOY DOING SCITDS"

Amy of Andover says:
18:00  on  Friday 3rd December 2010
"Saxon Fields is absolutely terrible! Our road in particular you cannot even get to the top of very easily. The roads are seriously iced. Cars are just sliding back down! :/"
