Winter Update / Your Road Conditions
Your Road Conditions

Hampshire County Council have said they will focus on gritting the main roads around North West Hampshire.

However this means that a large number will not be treated, leading to very dangerous driving conditions.

Leave a message below to tell us which roads near you are dangerous and we'll let the whole of North West Hampshire know about them.

Martin of Charnwood Close, Andover says:
11:12  on  Wednesday 13th January 2010
"Charnwood Close and Hedge End Road are lethal this morning, no bus again and 1-2 Call Taxis came to my rescue again, they couldn't make it to my house and had to walk down to them. I think its disgraceful that the Council have not been out overnight gritting in our area. We pay our council tax without fail and expect the Council to reciprocate when we need them! Lets hope the thaw starts soon."

sam of andover artist way says:

"totally agree with carol below i dont understand why they want to open the infant and junior schools yet close all the secondary school i dont think its fair for all the little ones to have to go out in this and yet the older ones get to stay in "

Carol of Andover says:
09:15  on  Wednesday 13th January 2010
"Secondary schools closed apart from those doing exams, good, but why oh why are the primary schools open, surely it is harder for them to walk to school than the older ones, it's just mad. The roads are small roads and all the paths are awful today, take care everyone when your out."

Di of Cricketers way says:
20:53  on  Wednesday 6th January 2010
"Didnt even try to go to work today. work all over out in the villages. No work no pay as self employed, but my boys having a mum is more important than getting paid. Not worth the risk. "

Lucy of Andover says:
18:20  on  Wednesday 6th January 2010
"The reason that the roads were so terrible this morning is because the council ran out of Grit!!! Tricks if your stuck in the snow, use a old piece of carpet to place infront of your car for the tyres to grip you. It will get you moving again. Some people have used cat litter also. If you see someone stuck in the snow..give them a push!"

"

It took just under an hour to go about 4 miles there and back. The road was not clear of snow or gritted, best of luck to anyone who tries it. "

mandy of whitchurch says:

Nicki of Fyfield says:
07:16  on  Wednesday 6th January 2010
